Events and Competitions - Day of Service

In 2012, the Delta Omega Honorary Society will host its inaugural Day of Service as part of National Public Health Week. This event will connect members through chapter events and service activities. We encourage members to contact the the leadership of chapters in their area (regardless of whether they were inducted at that chapter) to see how they may can get involved.

2012 Day of Service

DO-DayofServiceThe inaugural Delta Omega Day of Service will take place during National Public Health Week (April 2-8, 2012). The theme for this year's NPHW is "A Healthier America Begins Today!" Chapters may select any day during NPHW to hold their Day of Service activities that align with this theme and Delta Omega's mission of excellence. Review this presentation for suggestions on how to plan your chapter's Day of Service.

Whether it's research focused, service geared, or community outreach, all activities should be organized by Delta Omega Chapters and promoted as such. Coming soon: DO Day Calendar, which will list all chapters' planned DO Days and activities!

Day of Service Suggestions:

  • Webcasts featuring Delta Omega members on faculty and/or practicing in the field
  • Host a distinguished lectureship on prevention for the university and community
  • Sponsor a research day (competitive or non-competitive) to highlight excellence in the prevention field from your community and university
  • Sponsor drives and activities for the school and local community to get involved while learning about making America healthier
